Recently, there has been a few new features on DeviantArt that has had many different views.
Please read background information on what has been going on before you read this:
[link][link][link]◕ The Indifference
DeviantART is a relatively young site that has come a long way. I did a little rummaging around the About Us section. The staff has come through financial snags in the past. Americans are in the middle of financial crisis. Revenues for sites like these are hard to come by. As pointed out by

, other websites differentiate between paid and non paid members by harsher terms than Premium Members. DeviantART could have been cold blooded like the sites that he is referring to by demanding an immediate payment or putting harsher restrictions for the simplistic things that us deviants are accustom to; sizes of uploaded artwork; limited journal entry lengths; "Premium Members" only forums and chats. More than likely, there are many like

who are generally unaffected by this.
◕ The Outrage
The numerous commercial changes have been a zealous topic on the forums and within deviant's personal pages. People feel that differentiating between deviants and Premium members is causing a rift in a what has always been a welcoming, whole-some community.
It puts gift givers on an unnecessary pedestal when some of these said people feel that thanks is enough; Reading

's journal, I was informed that once upon a time "...a subscription in the past, that donation was for the most part, anonymous. An e-mail notification would be sent to you telling you the user name of the account who donated a subscription to you, and it was at your discretion whether you wanted to thank them publicly on the site." It is felt that it should return to this private transaction. The posting of people's user names as a gift giver and reciever on their pages is a privacy violation. The gift givers could soon become hounded by others who want this "Premium Memberships." The gift receiver is made to feel inferior or guilty if more than one person donated to their cause and only one person got the credit for it.

said "The worst of it[the problem]is the lack of anonymity." Most deviants are busy, not paying attention to news announcements and forums. They probably did not pick up on the subtle hints about this abrupt changes that has gotten under there skins. This sudden uproar could have been avoided if the decision had been a little more democratic; a decision that should have been made over a longer period of time with the impute of the vast DA community.
◕ The Conformist Happiness
Are there people who do not mind this change? Of course.
Certain deviants feels that this posting of the gift givers name is giving them "due credit." They are spending hard earned cash on someone they care about so why not put their name there? This is a form of affection, communication, and friendship.
